Qualitative factors are those that affect how easy or difficult it is for a typical cardholder to get good value from the card. Our star ratings serve as a general gauge of how each card compares with others in its class, but star ratings are intended to be just one consideration when a consumer is choosing a credit card. For people who want to earn Wells Fargo credit card points but don’t want to pay an annual fee, the Wells Fargo Autograph Card is a solid choice. This card earns an unlimited 3X points on travel, gas, restaurants, transit, popular streaming services and phone plans. The new cardholder offer is 75,000 bonus miles if you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening your card. The Sapphire Preferred card has a greater range of spending categories that exceed 1X points back. You’ll also get 25% more value when you redeem your points through the Chase Travel℠ portal. For example, 60,000 points can be valued at up to $750 for qualifying travel expenses.

Travelers who want to earn flexible rewards points that can transfer to airline and hotel loyalty programs will also be excited about this new Wells Fargo credit card. The Autograph Journey launches with five airline partners and one hotel partner. While this total is smaller than competing brands, Wells Fargo is working to expand its list of transfer partners, and more brands will be added throughout the year. As a Visa Signature credit card, this Wells Fargo credit card includes access to the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection. Book a stay at one of the participating hotels to receive benefits similar to those who have elite status.

The ability to earn unlimited 2X miles on every purchase is a good perk for non-travel spending categories. However, you must use Capital One Travel to book your flights and hotels to receive the maximum bonus miles. Unlike other travel cards, you don’t have to use Wells Fargo’s travel portal to earn bonus points when booking travel. For example, you can earn 5X points on travel purchases with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, but you must make those purchases within the Chase Travel℠ portal to earn the bonus points.

However, you should compare credit cards before choosing the right travel card for your finances. “The card comes with a $95 fee, which many consumers will not want to pay. However, that fee is in line with other travel-related credit cards (if not a bit lower) and will more than offset by the card's many bonus features,” Shipper says. You’ll also get a $50 annual statement credit for any airline booking (with a $50 minimum airline purchase), effectively reducing the annual fee to just $45.

Some storm doors are made with a top panel that has a lowering screen to provide more airflow, or you can select a full glass plane. Another major benefit to storm doors is that they add another layer of insulation to your home. Exterior doors go through a lot of wear and tear over the years that damage their appearance and function. If your current one has damage or no longer speaks to your style, it's time for a new one. Some exterior doors can use a fresh paint job to revitalize their look, but it makes more sense to switch to a new door entirely if the overall design isn't part of your aesthetic. Buying new doors shouldn't be rushed since it's a large investment, so it's important to take time with your selection.

EXTERIOR ENTRY DOORS

Patio doors lead to your outside escape, whether it's a screened-in patio or an open deck. A popular selection for patio doors is French doors, but there are sliding glass options available. Pre-hung doors are known for their smooth, easy installation and precise fit. The existing door and framing must be removed before a pre-hung unit can be installed.

In this blog post, we will explore the meaning of what is a french style door and its pros and cons to help you decide if they are the right choice for your home. When you shop with Grand Entry Door, you can rest assured that our doors are unique and not like the cookie-cutter selection found in big box retailers. Our products are manufactured by top-rated vendors who maintain the highest quality standards in their manufacturing process. At Grand Entry Doors, our customers’ interests and needs are our top priority. Buying an exterior door like this online seemed intimidating, but Grand Entry made it a breeze. Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice. While your budget is something to keep in mind, this doesn't mean you should select the cheapest door. The average exterior door has a lifespan of 30 years or more if it's maintained properly and cleaned at least twice a year. You want to select an exterior door that's going to provide your home with style and security for years to come instead of one that will need replacing fairly quickly. You can expect to spend at least $1,000 on a new exterior door, depending on the retailer and labor costs.

These locks have a locking button on the knob that's inside the bedroom or bathroom. To prevent someone from being locked in the room, the locking button can easily be picked open with a tiny screwdriver or paper clip. Panel doors, also known as slab doors, contain patterns of square or oblong panels and are a classic choice. A door may contain two large panels, six small ones or some other configuration.

Determine where or if you want windows on your door (and if so, how many), which style will best match the rest of your exterior, and if you want a colorful door or wooden door. This will help you price the doors available so you can find a beautiful door that aligns with your budget. Wood doors are a beautiful option for traditional homes, especially those with entryways sheltered from the elements. Wood doors are available in a range of woods, including premium hardwood and pine. A wood door is heavy and dent-resistant and can be designed with or without glass insets.

This guide will walk you through the different types of interior doors so you can find the best interior doors for your home. Choose between slab, accordion, bi-fold, barn, French doors and more. Additionally, our expert design team is here to guide you in making a smart investment with a premium exterior front door built to last.

Olympian Kristi Yamaguchi says shes tickled pink to inspire a Barbie doll

barbie doll doll house

More than 60 years of Barbie’s Dreamhouses have further instilled that in us from a young age. Now she’s hitting the big screen in the “Barbie” movie, reportedly made for $100 million. Production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer aimed to create an “idealized version of Palm Springs,” Ms. Greenwood said..

Premarital sex became less stigmatized and a singles culture began to rise with the arrival of the sexual revolution, the F.D.A.’s approval of the birth control pill and the women’s movement. Ms. Brown’s book served as a guide for women looking to fulfill their newfound sexual freedom. The house has served as a subliminal, maybe even subversive, blueprint for children, especially girls. Barbie’s Dreamhouse was all her own — Ken was not on the deed. “There are so many Asian American athletes but they’re just not propped up in a way that athletes of other racial groups are,” said Cheryan, who researches cultural stereotypes and their impact on race and gender disparities.

Barbie Dollhouses & Playsets

Mirroring the growing popularity of prefabricated construction, Barbie’s A-frame house was modular — children could deconstruct it by pulling the sections apart. Though feminism was now mainstream, some efforts to advance women’s rights were stalling. In 1982, the Equal Rights Amendment, which stated that rights “shall not be denied or abridged” on the basis of sex, fell three states short of being added to the Constitution. Cities were shrinking in size and wealth, as white flight followed desegregation efforts and more areas adopted the model of Levittown, a Long Island community of roughly 17,000 homes that look startlingly alike.

Women made several economic and cultural strides throughout the 1990s. The median age women were getting married was trending upward, women’s labor force participation increased and the “girl power” movement, popularized by the Spice Girls, was taking off. “The size of the average American house rose from about 1,500 square feet in 1970 to more than 2,300 square feet in 2001, with a particularly big growth spurt” in the late 1990s, The Times reported.

World of Barbie is an immersive and interactive experience. All guests enter the premises and participate at their own risk, and release Kilburn Experiences 3, LLC, Mattel, Inc., their affiliates, successors, assignees, licensors and licensees from all liability of any nature while engaging in the event. Guests are encouraged but not required to wear masks during their visit. Guests are strictly prohibited from running, jumping, or climbing of any kind on the premises and/or within the experience. Do not enter World of Barbie if you do not wish to be subject to the foregoing.

To impress men, Ms. Brown instructed women on having a “wall of pictures,” a “sexy kitchen” and plenty of books — features found in Barbie’s townhouse. This was contrary to many early dollhouses, which were made with the intent of teaching young girls domestic tasks. To bring the doll’s world to cinematic life for the buzzy Hollywood movie “Barbie,” four life-size Dreamhouses were erected at studios in Britain, leading to a shortage in a supply of pink paint. Mattel has mostly garnered praise for its diversity efforts but it’s had some missteps along the way.

THE EXPERIENCE

From the beginning, much of Barbie’s existence — her unrealistic physical proportions, the lack of racially diverse dolls, the toy’s reinforcing of gender roles — has been debated in jest and in seriousness. But her home, which has not been as publicly parsed or praised like the doll, has been a mirror for the various social, political and economic changes the rest of the country was experiencing. It has followed housing patterns and trends, from chic, compact urban living to suburban sprawl to pure excess. At times, it has been out of step, ignoring the country’s ills (Barbie’s never been broke; she has never lost her house to foreclosure). But you can still view a catalog of products and be directed to purchase at retail. Promo codes and gift cards are applied during checkout.

Both could not find dolls that looked like their daughters. In an interview, Kim Culmone, Mattel’s head of design for Barbie, said that apart from wheelchair accessibility, the Dreamhouse doesn’t reflect those identities. It’s an Instagrammable approach to design and décor — a skill influencer Barbie perfected through her @barbiestyle Instagram account, with a following of over 2 million. As a child, Maddie Bone, a 28-year-old brand designer, was given a hand-me-down Dreamhouse from a family friend. She felt like she hit the jackpot — it was in mint condition, and it even came with furniture.

Then, double the fun with transforming furniture -- the BBQ grill reverses to reveal a dessert buffet, the entertainment center reverses to reveal a pet play area, and a bunk bed folds down from the wall. Kids can play out any story, from an ordinary day to the ultimate get-together with a kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, pool, balcony, party room and more. Lift and lower Barbie® doll and her friends in the working elevator, fill the pool with water to make a splash, soak up some sun on the third-floor balcony and rooftop deck, and host a pet playdate with a puppy pool and slide. -- feature realistic touches and textures that bring any Barbie® story to life. With cool customizations and so many storytelling opportunities, kids ages 3 years old and up will move right into the Barbie® Dreamhouse® and make it their own!

Pool parties, friend sleepovers, sister bonding, backyard BBQs, birthday, holidays and every day -- there are endless stories to tell and limitless ways to explore living in the Barbie® Dreamhouse™ because with Barbie®, anything is possible. Includes Barbie® Dreamhouse and 70 accessories that include furniture, household items and a puppy; dolls, fashions and car not included. When young imaginations open the door to the Barbie® Dreamhouse®, they'll discover unlimited storytelling possibilities! Standing 43 inches tall and 41 inches wide, this dreamy dollhouse inspires 360-degree play with three floors and 10 indoor and outdoor living areas. Move right in and customize the space -- the grass area and pool can be placed in multiple configurations on the first and third floors, and the slide fits in four second-floor locations. After designing the layout, set the scene for any story with three songs, two soundscapes and customizable light settings!

Kids can host the ultimate pool party with the Barbie® Dreamhouse™! This deluxe doll house has the tallest slide in the Barbie® Dreamhouse™ series to date, with a three-story spiral design for endless fun in the sun. It inspires 360-degree play with a wide and spacious floorplan, three levels, and 10 indoor and outdoor living areas.

Outside of Barbie’s world, there are many ways in which one’s home can reflect their racial, cultural and gender identities — whether that’s through the art on their walls or the spices in their kitchen. The Dreamhouse designers chose to acknowledge the pandemic — Barbie had her own work-from-home station. In 2015, she had new seven-room digs, complete with a garage for her convertible. Houseplants saw a bloom during the environmental movement of the 1970s when people filled their homes with macramé plant hangers and terrariums. “If you are to be a glamorous, sophisticated woman that exciting things happen to, you need an apartment and you need to live in it alone! Now, Ms. Dalsing lives in Saint Joseph, Mo., in what she called her own dream house.

Barbie’s body, careers, lifestyle and house — a hot pink monument of decadence and desire, now equipped with a swimming pool, slide and elevator — have all been qualities designed for children (and adults) to crave for themselves. Barbie has been the platonic ideal of what a young woman could and should be. “Every little girl needed a doll through which to project herself into her dream of her future,” Ruth Handler, the inventor of Barbie, told The New York Times in 1977. She named the doll after her own daughter (Ken was named after Ms. Handler’s son).

Mattel later redesigned the Dreamhouse elevator to accommodate the wheelchair. In 2019, Mattel introduced a new Barbie in a wheelchair. But her wheelchair didn’t fit in the Dreamhouse elevator, and Barbie couldn’t go to the upper floors of her own home, just like versions of a doll that accompanied her and the Dreamhouse more than two decades earlier. Barbie’s signature pink began increasingly popping up in the 1970s, part of Mattel’s effort to brand toys to stand out from competitors, said Mr. Burrichter. Though it might’ve been successful marketing, Mattel’s pink dousing would later be criticized for perpetuating gender stereotypes.

Discover, explore, and revel in the iconic lifestyle and many careers of Barbie through a wide selection of interactive activities. After a huge success in Toronto, World of Barbie makes its US debut in Santa Monica. Society has held up “this promise of homeownership as part and parcel of the American dream,” for centuries, said Ms. Castro.

Although this may seem uncomfortable, it is important to customize your tiny home to fit your specific proportions. A tiny home is way smaller than an average home, so it is expected that measurements may be well below the typical anthropometric standard.

The Tiny House Experts

In the world of modern tiny houses, it’s not just about living small; it’s about living with flair and finesse. Design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about making your tiny house a functional and stylish sanctuary that suits your unique tastes and needs. One of the many appeals and benefits of tiny homes is that the homeowner can “pick up their house and go,” as many tiny homes are displayed as mobile. This appeals to those who dream of living across the country instead of having a single address. However, for sustainability, building a tiny stationary house with a foundation versus a mobile one could last as long as a traditional home if it’s properly maintained.

It looks just like a fantastic harmonization of elements of nature. If you like swimming or sailing, this one would be perfect. “Strange” is the word I need to use to describe this small house. It could be very hard to discover it in the wide rock mountain if you don’t pay attention clearly. I think it’s great when you want to avoid predators if there are any.

A tiny home would do well to stick to having just one room, as partitions tend to eat up a lot of living space. To protect from the elements as well as to add a more Modern feel, metallic panels in black make up the façade of the house, with a central main door or window with clean white mullions. The apex of the gabled roof to the points where it ends are covered by reclaimed wood planks laid out vertically, matching the weathered look of the wood shingles used on the roof itself. The front of the house is in a linear stacked river stone and culminates at the center with a bright blue circular door with central door knob.

If I were on my honeymoon and had to choose among the tiny houses to stay, I would choose this one. It looks sparkling in the middle of the night and completely romantic for couples. Besides, all the conveniences are available inside so it would make a great place for holidays. This cottage clocks in at just 430 square feet, but it still accommodates a bedroom, one full bath, and a tiny porch. The clapboard style helps it fit right into a peaceful clearing in the woods. The roofing of the house uses simple maroon colored metal sheets forming a gable roof.

You will still have sufficient rooms to put a bed or a sleeper sofa bed, a small-sized closet, and a television. It’s a little difficult to have a gas stove but you can do the cooking outside and enjoy the nature while eating. In the morning, you can lie under the sun and have a bath without being afraid of sun burnt.

The stone exterior and interior details of this French cottage make it look like it came straight out of a fairytale. While the overall design of the interior isn't much, the architecture serves as major inspo if you're looking to build your own dreamy tiny home. Soft canvas walls give this tiny house in the West Texas hill country a tent-like feel; all the comforts of home, like HVAC and plumbing, elevate its luxury level.

A Guide to Bohemian Interior Design

boho style design

The key is to hang it high to display as much of the large-print pattern as possible. No matter your age, if you gravitate towards loose silhouettes, beading or peasant-style blouses, there's a way to work them into your current wardrobe. Try a wide brim hat or a faux fur vest over your favorite skinny jeans. Beaded jackets look especially cool over mini skirts or little white dresses... Take an element that you love from the boho trend and adapt it in your own way.

Bohemian Interior Design: 7 Best Tips For Creating Seamless Boho Style

With beading, silk and fur accents, boho-chic looks become dressy options for evening events and parties. To pull this look off at your next wedding or even a class reunion, remember to keep it modern and elegant with simple shoes and clean, pretty hair. A low bun and a cat eye makeup look will give your bohemian-inspired look a more current feel. Key pieces, like a rattan armchair or a vintage trunk used as a coffee table, are great for creating a focal point without overwhelming the space.

Make It Personal

Can I mix the boho style with other interior design styles?

There is no set color scheme for boho design, but there are some common themes that you can incorporate into your space to create a bohemian ambiance. Bohemian interior design is a unique and unconventional style that is all about creativity, energy, and telling a story. It is a free-spirited design style that embraces maximalism and encourages individual expression through the curation and layering of multicultural textiles, artworks, and decorative objects. As mentioned earlier, plants are a crucial element of the boho style. Experiment with different types of plants and creative ways of displaying them to enhance the natural feel of your space.

Each sub-style has its own unique characteristics and is perfect for different types of spaces. Whether you want a chic and sophisticated look or a peaceful and calming space, there is a bohemian sub-style for you. This design style is perfect for those who love to mix and match different cultural traditions and styles. Boho-style living rooms often feature white walls, light wood finishes, rattan furniture and decor, patterned textiles, global accents, and an abundance of plants.

Bohemian Materials and Textures

One of the keys to the heart of a bohemian interior is making combinations. Unlike the minimalist style, a boho room is unapologetic in both mixing finishes and layering elements of decor like textiles, art, and accents. In addition, due to its playful nature, bohemian interior design fuses styles together with a casual tone. For example, it’s a modern sofa with a handwoven macrame art piece above and kilim pillows to adorn in the living room. Or a brightly palm printed wallpaper with mid-century table lamps and a Moroccan wedding blanket in a well-curated bedroom design.

Pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports in North America, is now making waves on the high seas and even on European river ships. The combination of Ping Pong, tennis and badminton is a great way to have fun and burn off that buffet lunch on your next cruise. Whether on a makeshift basketball court or in a dedicated space, playing pickleball is a great way to stay active and meet other players at sea. River cruise line AmaWaterways recently installed a regulation-size pickleball court on the sundeck of its ship AmaMagna. The court is located behind the wheelhouse and includes a perimeter net. Pickleball can only be played when the ship is docked because the net needs to be removed to go under certain bridges along the Danube River.

Celebrity Cruises: Exclusive and Eventful

Additionally, guests can request to rent the court as long as there is the availability for it onboard. Though, there is a price that comes with exclusively renting out the sports court. “To play pickleball is to make new friends, from around the neighborhood or around the world. The men began with table tennis paddles, established rules much like those in the game of badminton, and used a perforated ball that could bounce off the asphalt over a 36-inch high net.

The sport’s popularity has increased greatly, and the cruise line now offers it on all 15 ships in the Princess fleet. One of the best parts of cruising is that there is the abundance of opportunities to learn or try something new. Several of the cruise ships with pickleball also offer lessons.

You’ll need to bring your own pickleballs, but paddles are provided. Pickleball is listed in the programs for cruises on both Oceania Riviera and Oceania Marina. Cruisers who have played and posted about it on the Cruise Critic message boards, however, say that it is best to play when the ships are in port because it can be far too windy to enjoy the games while at sea.

MSC reports that pickleball is available on MSC World Europa and will be available on MSC Euribia when she comes in to service later this year. One of the biggest is that the ball does not bounce like a tennis ball. The ball used in pickleball is hard and plastic with many holes. The basic objective of the game is to hit the ball to the other side of the court and prevent your opponent from hitting it back to your side. Points are scored when the opponent fails to return the ball (or hits it out of bounds).

Because of this, we recommend showing up as soon as the activity begins to guarantee an open court. Pickleball is an activity included in your cruise fare and equipment is provided (although you could also bring your own). Enjoy complimentary lessons, tournaments, and courts with amazing top-deck views. Pickleball is a game that is fun, social and most of all easy to play! It's great for most activity and skill levels which makes it a fun game for anyone who's interested in joining.

Whether you prefer the grandeur of Holland America, the variety of Carnival Cruise Line, or the luxurious setting of Crystal Cruises, there’s something for every pickleball lover out there. Princess Cruises provides all equipment; though, no lessons are available. They are all open play, except for one organized tournament per cruise. A great example of marketing pickleball is through a personal story from Vicki Freed, Royal Caribbean International Senior Vice President of Sales. Attend an engaging lecture, go to a wine tasting or simply relax and unwind.

The two ships in the Crystal Cruises fleet, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, feature dedicated pickle ball courts at the top of the ships. These are enclosed pickle ball; courts with good surfaces, seating areas and provided paddles for cruisers. These courts are among the best we've seen on cruise ships so far. Queen Mary 2, the world's only ocean liner, offers a netted-in "paddle tennis" court where you could play pickleball if you bring your official "pickleball" balls; the ship has racquets already.

Your non-playing spouse/friend can easily fill their days without stepping foot on the pickleball court. Following our private court time, the courts are usually available for open play to all passengers. It is at the discretion of the cruise director on which days additional open play will be available. Pickleball in Paradise prides itself on offering the ultimate tailored experience, where every guest feels like a VIP.

This changes frequently, but when a group is scheduled with ample time, an adjustment is made to ensure the right programming is offered. Pickleball is played on the Sports Court, where guests enjoy a variety of activities including basketball, volleyball, tennis, and more. Pickleball is available on board Norwegian Prima and her sister ship Norwegian Viva, set to debut in August 2023. These ships feature a dedicated space within The Stadium on deck 18.

If one person in a cabin purchases a Deluxe Beverage Package, all adults in the room must also purchase the package. That being said, Royal Caribbean often makes an exception to this rule if the second adult in a room does not consume alcohol. HAL-Holland America elevates Alaska cruising experience with 'Glacier Day' and enhanced programming

cruise tracy arm fjord

Are you ready to cruise to Tracy Arm fjord, one of the “most dramatically stunning fjords in Alaska”? Each Alaska cruise includes visits to iconic glacier destinations like Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier, Dawes Glacier, and the Twin Sawyer Glaciers of Tracy Arm. Shore excursions provide opportunities to explore additional glaciers, such as Mendenhall and Portage glaciers. There are some differences to consider when choosing between the two. Tracy Arm is narrower and has more icebergs, while Endicott Arm is wider and has more wildlife.

Tracy Arm Fjord & Glacier Explorer Gallery

If you’re craving crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs and island vibes turned way, way up, these getaways tick all the boxes. To take your holiday experience to an entirely new level, visit Perfect Day at CocoCay, where a perfect day is waiting. Swim in the Bahamas' largest freshwater pool, go down the tallest waterslide in North America, and chill with a book in the only private overwater cabanas in the Bahamas.

Wildlife Sightings Are Prevalent

Cruising into Tracy Arm offers a chance to see Alaskan wildlife. It’s not unusual to see whales along Stephen’s Passage and inside the bay. Simon and Garfunkel’s “the sound of silence” is fitting for the gentle maneuver through the emerald waters. The silence was only broken by bergy bits hitting the side of the vessel or the sound of birds overhead.

Tracy Arm Fjord Cruise: An Epic Journey To Sawyer Glacier

Cruise ships must navigate through the narrow fjord to reach the glacier at the end of the arm. The unhurried approach includes majestic views of towering mountains and granite cliffs. As the channel to the glacier narrows, it’s possible that cruise ships won’t have access in the future. North Sawyer or Sawyer Glacier may not be as impressive, maybe due to its accessibility.

Juneau, Alaska Tours

The steep cliffs prevented the sunlight from penetrating some angles in the meandering waterway. My Royal Caribbean Tracy Arm itinerary arrived in the fjord at 5 am. There was an abundance of low-lying clouds and mist in the fjord. Most travelers pick from Hubbard Glacier or Glacier Bay National Park when planning a cruise to Alaska.

REAL-LIFE WATER WORLD

If you’ve visited Glacier Bay National Park before and considering another option, here are some reasons to book a cruise to Tracy Arm. Surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, the Tracy Arm Fords Terror Wilderness contains both Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm. A cruise to the Twin Sawyer Glaciers or Dawes Glacier offers topography beyond imagination. Below you will find some practical information on Tracy Arm fjord to help you decide whether it should be on your Alaska cruise itinerary. Tracy Arm fjord is up there with Glacier Bay National Park and Denali National Park as the most incredible destinations in Alaska. If you happen to visit on the second Friday of the month, go find the Government House and witness the Changing of the Guard, a British custom that's been performed since 1958.

Once the ice has melted, those wanting to get closer to the ice and waterfalls can take a Tracy Arm Fjord & Glacier Explorer excursion. As glaciers melt, they sometimes carve deep channels, leaving “U-shaped” valleys with vertical walls. Soak up island views and aquatic adventures with a cruise to the Bahamas. The face of Sawyer is a little more than a half mile wide, so there is plenty of space for the vessel to be at the face of the glacier. The boat’s engine gets turned off at the glacier so you can listen to the ice crackle and pop and take in the sights uninterrupted while you wait for the glacier to calve. Some prefer the colossal Hubbard Glacier for its calving action.

In May, harbor seals give birth on the large icebergs near the glacier’s terminus. It’s the survival of the fittest as bald eagles swoop down to feast on the afterbirth or unattended baby seal. From the topside observation deck, enjoy this unforgettable experience with all your senses. You can sometimes even feel the 'white thunder' as immense spires of ice break from the glacier and crash into the sea.

The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link. The icebergs are framed by sheer mountain peaks that reach over 7,000 feet. Waterfalls flow from the ice-covered mountains to the jade colored inland sea. The ice in Tracy Arm interferes with the sonar of killer whales, so it is the perfect place for hundreds of harbor seals to have their pups in the summer months.

Both massive glaciers begin in British Columbia, Canada, with North Sawyer stretching 22 miles and South Sawyer flowing 31 miles to the ocean. The Twin Sawyer Glaciers are the main attraction in Tracy Arm Fjord. The glaciers are named after the Navy’s Secretary, Benjamin Franklin Tracy, who was in office under President Harrison. Since fjords have their own micro-climate, expect cooler, damper weather and lots of mist, especially in the early hours. The fog and low-lying clouds may hamper your ability to take photos. Regardless of your cruise date, bringing warm layers is essential, as the temperature can be chilly, even in the summer months.

Many cruise lines offer this tour, which takes guests on a smaller vessel from your cruise ship to explore Tracy Arm and see the Sawyer Glacier up close. If you're dying to see the twin Sawyer Glaciers up close, look for Tracy Arm Fjord tours in our Alaska shore excursions. You can board a high-speed catamaran right from the cruise ship and zig-zag close to the glaciers. Whether you experience Tracy Arm by cruise or catamaran, bring binoculars and warm rain gear, as it is known for wildlife sightings and drizzle.

Once you get chilled, step inside your cabin, and enjoy the views from behind the glass. It doesn’t matter whether you have a port or starboard stateroom because you’ll enjoy one side sailing in and the other going out. Once you reach the Sawyer Glacier, you’ll be captivated by its vivid blue tones. The ice in Tracy Arm is dense and absorbs all colors except blue. So, the crystalline structure appears with a beautiful blue tone.

Like its southern sister, it starts in British Columbia and travels 22 miles to reach Tracy Arm. Your approach to the glaciers will be affected by the ever-changing ice conditions. Early in the cruise season, large ice flow blocks the passage of ships trying to reach the Twin Sawyer Glaciers. So, those wanting to see the Twin Sawyer Glacier should avoid booking their Alaska cruise in early May. Allen Marine is committed to the long-standing relationships we have cultivated with our cruise line partners. Booking through your cruise line’s website is the most expedient and effortless way to book a trip, and includes several built-in benefits and guarantees.

A service call means the ship stops at the fjord’s mouth, allowing some guests to disembark onto a smaller vessel to continue into the fjord. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast, a nature lover, or someone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, discover what to expect on a day in Tracy Arm. While it may be cold outside by the glaciers, you won’t need to struggle for a viewing spot. The fjord waters are a magnificent green color, which varies according to meltwater. During my last visit in the first week of May, the waters exuded a vibrant jade green. The increasing amount of floating ice is a welcoming sign for harbor seals who use the icy platforms to laze in the sun.

When cruising to Tracy Arm Fjord, you may be treated to the wondrous action of calving. A thunderous noise echoes in the bay as ice cracks and falls from the glacier’s toe. The vessel is built for exploration and intricate maneuverability, allowing guests to feel the spray of waterfalls.
