Ducey on March 25, 2021, had lifted COVID-19 restrictions on Arizona businesses and events and prohibited, in most cases, the enforcement of local mask mandates. School districts could later enact their own mask and vaccine standards as a result of a sweeping court ruling. Events drawing more than 50 people, such as youth sports tournaments and concerts, no longer require governmental approval.
